CHARACTERIZATION OF THE MATERIALS IN THE WHEEL
The materials of the wheel assembly, consisting of the tire and rim, have traditionally been rubber and steel; however, requirements for vehicle weight reduction have called for the introduction of light alloys and composite materials as substitutes for steel as well. TEC Eurolab has the instrumentation and knowledge to carry out a complete characterization of the materials in the wheel and also implement solutions for testing the complete component, enabling the verification of its resistance to the environment, to impulsive or repeated mechanical stresses, such as pressure variations and abrasion, and to obtain information on the state of tire-rim coupling, for example following side impacts, by whole-component tomographic scans.
