F-GAS Certification: issuance of certification
F-GAS personal certification covers personnel engaged in one or more of the following activities on stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment containing certain fluorinated greenhouse gases (Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 2015/2067 categories I, II, III, IV):
- Leakage control from equipment containing fluorinated greenhouse gases in quantities of 5 tons of CO2 equivalent or more and not contained in foams, unless the equipment is hermetically sealed, labeled as such, and contains fluorinated greenhouse gases in quantities of less than 10 tons of CO2 equivalent
- recovery
- installation
- repair, maintenance or service

F-GAS Certification (F-gas Person Certification) is valid for 10 years from the first date of certification. Renewal of the certification is done by taking a new examination in the same manner as when the certification was first given.

How long does the F-GAS Certification last
F-GAS Certification (F-gas Person Certification) is valid for 10 years from the first date of certification. Renewal of the certification is done by taking a new examination in the same manner as when the certification was first given.
The certified individual must submit the renewal request sixty days prior to the expiration of the certificate, either directly or through their employer.
It is important to check the deadline so that you do not risk losing your qualification to operate systems containing fluorinated gases (according to Presidential Decree 146/2018) and, therefore, no longer being recognized as a qualified operator on the national FGAS register.

- PR Code (This is the registration number that identifies the certified person or enterprise. It is the code that the national FGAS registry creates for each certified person and enterprise)

If you find that you are past the deadline for renewing your FGAS certificate, follow these steps:
- Check E-mail: Check your e-mail box to find the address of your certification body and retrieve any communications. Next, act on the instructions you receive.
- Contact the Certification Body: In case the communications are not clear, call the certification body for further explanation.
Have you had your license suspended? Here's how to proceed
Sometimes, if not too much time has passed, you can keep your license valid through the maintenance process.
If you have had your license suspended, here’s how to proceed:
The personal FGAS certificate that is not maintained goes into a “suspension” status. After 6 months of suspension, the certificate is “revoked.”
The suspension can be “reinstated” by turning to Valor who will take action to give you all the support you need. You will need to:
- Make payment for restoration.
- Send two self-declarations received via email in PDF format from the institution.
Please note: Remember that revocation is an irreversible step; once issued, the certificate cannot be reinstated. It will be necessary to take a new certification, repeating the examination.
F-GAS Certification Verification.
The Ministry of the Environment and Land and Sea Protection carries out constant checks on the Certification system of enterprises and individuals in the F-Gas sector.
Control activities have been intensified due to the increase in the illegal market of fluorinated greenhouse gases (F gases). In compliance with Presidential Decree No. 43 of January 27, 2012, and EU regulations, companies must be registered in the national FGAS registry and have certified personnel.
The Ministry of Environment has invited all enterprises registered in the “National Register of Certified Persons and Enterprises” that carry out activities related to fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gas) to obtain certification as soon as possible.
Verification of personal and enterprise FGAS certificates can be done by anyone. The national Fgas registry is the point of reference for verifying the certification status of a company or person. You can perform this search using the tax identification number of the company you wish to verify.
