Damage rubber water bag
In response to the customer’s request, we went to investigate therupture and causes of rubber degradation of the offending water bag.
The bag of water as it arrived was subjected to targeted observations and investigation of the areas of the explosive liquid leakage.
These analyses were carried out using microscopes and SEM and directed subsequent chemical and physical analyses along a defined path of investigation.
Theconstituent material undergoes extensive characterization, centered on spectrophotometry (FT-IR ) and thermal analysis (DSC).
From the investigations carried out on the examined hot water bag, clear evidence emerged that indicated that the damage phenomenon was attributable to a deterioration of the rubber due to the way the water is heated.
In fact, this mechanism involved the transfer to the bath, and thus to the rubber, of metal particles that were incompatible with the bag material.
