Reverse engineering

After performing the tomographic scan of a component (CT), we can then have a modifiable CAD file. In order to do this, we need to first of all, calculate all the edges of the features of the object to be analyzed, internally and externally.
At this point we can extract an STL, a mesh formatted surface, which with other software can be made into a volumetric format such as STEP, IGES or other formats from the most used modifiable 3D modelers:
Advantages:
  • it is possible to recover CADs of lost components;
  • it is possible to do the reverse of internal conducts as seen in the example;
  • results can be used for printing in additive manufacturing.
