Food contact suitability - knife with ceramical blade


The objective was to evaluate the food contact suitability of a knife with a blade made ​​of ceramic material. According to the Italian regulation-compliant if the material meets the requirements of the Directive 4.4.1985 (Discipline of ceramic articles intended to come into contact with food products) - European Directive 84/500/EEC.
 
By migration test we went then to evaluate the content of lead and cadmium released from the blade of the knife.
 
Limit values​​: Pb <0.8 mg/dm2 - Cd <0.07 mg/dm2
