Determination of chromium hexavalent
Determination of chromium hexavalent
The method wants to verify the content of hexavalent chromium in surface coatings of metallic particulars through a colorimetric / spectrophotometric analysis according to ISO 3613 of 15/06/2000.
APPLICATION RANGE:
• Chromic conversion coatings (eg, galvanizing, plating, etc.)
Specimen Size: sheets of 50 × 100 mm (it is always better to perform the test twice, therefore it is needed to provide at least 2 sheets).
NOTE: The method provides the result expressed in μg/cm2 and not in ppm as required by RoHS.
There is no precise relationship between the directive and the procedure, they are very close. Assuming an average thickness of a trivalent passivation 200-400 nm with a weight of 1.0-1.5 g/m2, the 0.1% of the substrate is 0.1 to 0.15 μg/cm2 of Cr (VI).
previous:
Determination of cations (ammonium, calcium, magnesium, potassium, lithium, sodium)
next:
Determination of kinematic viscosity at 100 °C
